In a heartwarming ceremony held today at the Prof. Uzoka Centre, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, the Mazi Ejimofor and Adaora Opara family announced the institution of the “Dr. A. O. Obiajulu Award for Academic Excellence”.
This award aims to honour and support outstanding students in the Department of Sociology/Anthropology across all levels.
The award, which was established in memory of the late Dr. Obiajulu, a renowned mentor and academic, will provide an annual tuition support fee of N100,000 to each student with the highest CGPA across the board. Additionally, a N100,000 prize will be awarded to the Best Graduating Student of each session.
Speaking at the induction ceremony of Year One students, Mazi Ejimofor Opara expressed his pride and gratitude to God for making this moment possible. He highlighted Dr. Obiajulu’s legacy as a mentor and his passion for academic excellence, which inspired the institution of this award.
The beneficiaries of this award will be announced annually, and the family hopes to continue Dr. Obiajulu’s legacy by encouraging and rewarding academic excellence in the Department of Sociology/Anthropology.
