Police operatives in Mushin area of Lagos led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Ayodele Arogbo, may have given robbers operating within the Mushin axis a note of warning to leave the area because there is no hiding place for them.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that barely few days after the Police team foiled robbery operations in the area and arrested two armed robbers including a woman, Yetunde Lawson, another set of bandits was repelled recently in the area.
It was gathered that on 26th August 2019, the Police team led by Arogbo intercepted armed robbers during their planned operation and recovered arms and a bag of substance suspected to be Indian hemp as exhibits.
The incident happened at Ogunmakun Street, Mushin area of Lagos, where the robbers had assembled to carry out an operation before the Police stormed the area and frustrated their plans.
A Police source said that the Police patrol team was moving in the area on routine surveillance when they sighted a man with a bag and accosted him for interrogation. The man took to his heels and the Police pursued him and held his clothes in order to apprehend him with the bag he was carrying. The suspect reportedly tore his clothes, escaped and dropped the bag he had with him.
The Police refrained from shooting him in order not to cause casualty on innocent passersby.
However, when the Police opened the bag, it contained locally made pistol with live ammunition, Jack knife and the bag was stuffed with India hemp.
When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited the Police station, the DPO was said to have gone on routine checks in the area.
However, a Police source and some residents confirmed the incident and commended the Police for prompt action, which prevented the criminal from operating in the area.
It was gathered that criminals have relocated to Oshodi, Ilupeju and other areas because of the difficulty they were facing in the Mushin axis.
The Police were said to have started manhunt for the gang in order to arrest them for prosecution over armed robbery.
