The President General of Bash Ali Fans Club of Nigeria (BAFCON), Comrade Dickson Ayorinde Oshin  has said that the attitude of Nigerian authority to the organisation of the Guinness Book of World Record Boxing Championship, the first on the soil of Africa, is not good.

Oshin told P.M. EXPRESS in an interview that he and other members of the club spread across the six geo political zones of the country are not happy that since the inauguration of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the fight by the former Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, nothing concrete has been done to actualise the dream.

Oshin called the Nigerian Government to realise that nothing is more important than our own, a product that is Nigerian. According to him, Bashiru Lawrence Ali (OON), popularly known as Bash Ali, the oldest boxer in the world,  is worthy to be celebrated, hence the need to brand him and honour him with the Guinness World Record fight as he is going to bring honour and glory to Nigeria.

“This is an honour to all of us as Bash Ali is going to rewrite boxing history and put Nigerian name into book of world record. The Guinness World Record fight is going to be different from all the fights that had been hosted in Nigeria and all over the world because it has never happened before on the soil  of Africa. It has never happened anywhere in the world except our own great country, Nigeria.

“The fight will make the whole world to focus on Nigeria. It will also make the white people and other African countries to envy Nigeria because if it is from other white countries they discovered somebody like Bash Ali,  they will celebrate him more than our expectations, But this is our own product, Bash Ali.

“It is so sad that we have inaugurated the LOC of this fight over four months  ago when our former Sport Minister Solomon Dalung announced that the federal government wanted this fight to hold within 90 days,  but now we have got a new Sport Minister, Mr. Sunday Dare who we believe should take over and continue the job where  Mr. Dalung stopped, Unfortunately,  nothing has been done. The world is watching and age is not on the side of our champion.

“Bash Ali is a lucrative brand who will bring clean money, honour and glory to Nigeria. That is why the President General of BAFCON and other executives of the fans club are calling on the federal government to do the right thing at the  right time without wasting our opportunity during the government of our father Muhammadu Buhari who has the love of Nigeria in his heart,” Comrade Oshin said.
