Nursing Mom Stabs Landlady’ Sister, Rejects Prison Remands

There was drama at a Lagos court when a nursing mother, Faith Omotola refused to enter prison bus after she was arraigned in court and ordered to be remanded in prison custody for assaulting her landlady’s sister, Bola Wahab.
The 36-year old woman claimed that she was nursing a baby thus she cannot enter the bus to prison with her baby despite the fact that the alleged offence she committed was in self defence.
This became an issue within the court premises as she fell on the road crying and insisting she would not go to prison.
However, the court has ordered her to be remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
The embattled Omotola was arrested after she stabbed Wahab during a disagreement with her landlady at their residence at 67, Ola Salami Street in Egan area of Lagos.
P.M. EXPRESS gathered that the victim initially attacked Omotola in defence of the landlady and in retaliation, she took a knife and stabbed her on her hand which injured her.
The victim bled profusely and was rushed to a hospital where she was treated.
The matter was reported to the police at Igando division and she was arrested and charged to court for the alleged offence.
She pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
At the Ejigbo Magistrate’s court, the presiding Magistrate, Mr A.A. Fashola ordered her to be remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till  19 December 2016.
