Oba Elegushi’s Aide, Prince Ajibade Ayeni Emerges New Eletu Odibo of Lagos

Prince Ajibade Ismail Nosiru Ayeni has been nominated and elected among the Princes presented by the Oshobile Ruling House of Eletu Odibo Chieftaincy Family of Lagos to succeed the late Chief Tajudeen Gbadesere Agboola Eletu who died on March, 7, 2017.

The selection of Ayeni was announced by the Eletu Odibo-in-council led by the Head of the Eletu Odibo Chieftaincy Family, Alhaji Rafiu Alabi Saka following the screening and report of the Omo Oye Selection Committee chaired by Chief Ismail Oladeinde Folaji (Olorogun Ide of Lagos).

The Chairman of the committee, Chief Ismail Oladeinde Folaji presented Ayeni to the Eletu Odibo-in-council as the winner/Chief Eletu Odibo-elect having led other contestants in the race of the Eletu Odibo stool.

Ayeni popularly known as Omobalufon in the Lagos Island politics is an Engineer by profession and he is an aide to HRM Alaiyeluwa Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla III, Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom.

He graduated from the Lagos State University (LASU) in the Department of Electronics/Computer Engineering with a Second Class Upper Division in 2003.

He also holds a Master of Science Degree in Mobile Computing & Communications from the University of Greenwich, UK and a Master of Business Administrstion, MBA in Corporate Government & Strategic Management at the National Open University, Nigeria.

Ayeni worked with Access Bank Plc as a Relationship Officer in the Institutional Banking Group and resigned as an Assistant Banking Officer in 2008 before he proceeded to the United Kingdom for his Master’s Degree.

He is a Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional and a Project Management Certified.

Ayeni is also a professional member of the British Computer Society and Association of Information Technology Professionals.

He is a grassroot Politician and an Apex member of the Atari Ajanaku Caucus under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Lagos Island Local Government.

The Eletu Odibo of Lagos is a traditional Noble man who has principally served as the Chief King Maker of the Oba of Lagos.

He is also the Head of the Akarigbere Royal Class and the Traditional Prime Minister to the Oba of Lagos.

The Eletu Odibo crowns the Oba of Lagos and other members of the Akarigbere Class of Chiefs, he also performs the Ikanse Ceremony for other class of Chiefs at Enu Owa including the Idejos and Ogalades, except the War Chiefs.

Chief Eletu Akinwon was said to be the first Eletu Odibo of Lagos.

The Eletu Odibo Chieftaincy Family is the overlord in respect of all the expanse of lands at Abule Oja and One-Third of Abule Ijesha communities & environs in the Yaba Local Council Development Area from time immemorial and this position was given legal backing by the Supreme Court judgement of the 17th July, 1961 in Suit No: LD/150/57.

It is also pertinent to state that there is only one Ruling House in Eletu Odibo Chieftaincy Family of Lagos, which is Oshobile Ruling House with reference to the High Court judgement of 5th of April, 2001 in Suit No: LD/983/87 and only the branches under Oshobile Ruling House are entitled to fill the stool of Eletu Odibo of Lagos.
