The much anticipated Inter wards football championship would begin on 11 December at Ejigbo sports centre, Lagos.
The competition is bankrolled by the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Honourable Monsuru Oloyede Bello popularly known as Obe.
The competition which involves six wards in Ejigbo LCDA is packaged by Ejigbo Grassroots Sports Initiative, a subsidiary of Lion King Promotions. It would involve both senior and junior categories.
In fixtures released by the organisers, Aigbaka ward junior football team would face Ifoshi ward junior football team at the opening match. The senior teams of the two wards would face each other in the second match of the day.
Chairman of Ejigbo Grassroots Sports Initiative, Ahmed Shekoni stated that the tourney is both senior and junior categories and urged the participating teams to prepare well for the competition.
Shekoni expressed satisfaction with the organization and media publicity of the competition saying that the championship would be organized to honour the Ejigbo council boss for his re-election at the last Lagos council poll.
He also mentioned that the tourney would also foster unity, friendliness and togetherness among the youths in Ejigbo and its environs saying that the competition would be glamorous and exciting.
“We are using this medium to invite the football stakeholders in Ejigbo and its environs to grace our opening match. It is going to be a colourful opening ceremony and we have made arrangements for the necessary logistics to make the competition a memorable one,” he said.
