Gidi Blues brought glam and lots of laughter to London recently when it was screened to top African acts, film makers and movie enthusiasts at the Film Africa Festival, the Royal African Society’s annual London film festival, United Kingdom.
At the screening were movie Director, Femi Odugbemi; movie producer, Makin Soyinka and the film’s stars, Gideon Okeke and Hauwa Allahbura.
The movie was applauded by movie buffs and seasoned industry bigwigs for showcasing the rich diversity and vibrancy of the city of Lagos was followed by a discussion with Director Femi Odugbemi with cast and crew of the movie.
Gidi Blues, premiered June 2016 in Lagos and within two months, the movie has been screened at film festivals in Africa, Europe, and America.
Shot in iconic locations of Lagos such as Idumota market, Makoko, Victoria Island, Isale Eko, Lekki, Freedom Park and Broad Street, the movie tells the story of Akin, played by Gideon Okeke, an indulged playboy from an affluent family who accidentally meets an interesting beauty, Nkem, played by Hauwa Allahbura, in an unpredictable place.
It features a stellar cast made up of Bukky Wright, Gideon Okeke, Tina Mba, Hauwa Allahbura, Lepacious Bose, and cameo appearance by Aduke and Banky W who released a song inspired by the film.
