David Olusegun Odunmbaku, kicked-off a Three-day celebration with Youth Symposium, themed “Advantages of Youth Engagement Programmes)”; Teachers’ empowerment; Keynol’s Induction as well as presentation of GCE forms to students.

It is very obvious that the youths of Ojodu LCDA had been feeling the positive impacts of grassroots governance and inclusiveness. These assertions were corroborated by the massive turnout and various testimonies from the youths of the LCDA.

While giving his address, Hon Odunmbaku appreciated the youths and members of his administration for the journey so far while elucidating on the programmes implemented by his administration. He also spoke on his commitment towards making young people realize their potentials and aspirations in life.

“The youth demography is an important segment of the society as well as future. Therefore, I implore you to take advantage of this administration’s capacity-building initiatives such as the vocational trainings and educational programmes for self-development and self-reliance. We have gone past the years of relying on white-collar jobs. With the aid of technological innovations, diverse opportunities have been presented which would pave ways for financial independence culminating into the society of our dreams” the Council Mayor said.

He also reiterated skills acquisition as a pivotal aspect of his programmes, which made the administration to upgrade the ICT training centre to an Information Technology Hub for globally relevant skills, and introduction of youths in the LCDA into mechanized agriculture. All of these are being carried out through subventions and partnership with relevant agencies and organizations.

The representative of the LGA Youth Leader, Rufus Osulana, thanked the Chairman for his focus-oriented leadership and also advised youths to fully embrace the programmes and policies of the administration.

Likewise, in a bid to reward conscientious and hard-working teachers within the LCDA, Odunmbaku partnered with Adedeji Awolola Foundation to present cheques and consolation prizes worth One million Naira; after an online-based assessment had been conducted. A cheque of One Million Naira was also presented to the office of Ikeja Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) towards the procurement of utility bus. While responding to the gesture, the Secretary Ikeja LGEA, Comrade Abolore, noted that the donations were the first of its kind since his assumption into office.
