The Ojodu Local Council Development Area has completed the construction of Silifatu Abioye Street in Ward D, Oke-Ira, in what the council described as another milestone in its drive to improve road infrastructure and connectivity across the LCDA.
The project was commissioned and delivered under the administration of the Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku.
The newly completed street was constructed with interlocking paving blocks, designed to provide a durable and sustainable road surface that can withstand heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic while improving the aesthetics of the community.
Council officials said the choice of interlocking blocks was to ensure longevity, reduce maintenance costs and improve drainage along the street.
According to the council, the road is expected to ease movement for residents, motorists and commuters, while improving access to adjoining streets and neighbourhoods within the Oke-Ira axis.
The completion of the project is also projected to stimulate commercial activities, reduce travel time, and enhance the general quality of life for residents in Silifatu Abioye and surrounding areas.
“This project is part of our commitment to delivering people-oriented infrastructure that addresses the immediate needs of our residents and promotes balanced development across all wards,” a council statement said.
Residents of Silifatu Abioye Street and neighbouring communities have commended Hon. Segun Odunmbaku for fulfilling his promise to upgrade infrastructure in the area.
They noted that the new road will end years of difficulty accessing the street during the rainy season and will boost both residential and business activities.
With the completion of Silifatu Abioye Street, Ojodu LCDA says it remains focused on expanding its road rehabilitation and construction programme to ensure no ward is left behind in the council’s development agenda.
