In a remarkable display of commitment to education and empowerment, the Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, delivered a powerful address today as he presented 200 free GCE forms and awarded bursaries to students.

The event took place earlier today at the Secretariat Hall, Oke-ira and was attended by esteemed members of the community.

In his address, Hon. Odunmbaku emphasized the crucial role of education in driving progress and development. He highlighted that empowering the youth is a fundamental responsibility of any nation, and failure to do so would compromise its future. The Chairman expressed gratitude for the opportunity to address the gathering, stating that the occasion resonates deeply with their commitment to education and empowerment.

The Executive Chairman announced the distribution of free GCE forms and the awarding of bursaries as part of their ongoing efforts to prioritize education and foster sustainable development. He emphasized that quality education is the cornerstone of progress and a catalyst for individual and community growth.

Hon. Odunmbaku highlighted the various educational initiatives undertaken by the Ojodu LCDA administration, including the yearly distribution of 200 JAMB to the youth, distribution of exercise books to students, welfare packages and prizes for outstanding teachers, provision of WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) facilities in schools through partnerships with Kimberly Clarke and PEPSICO, upgrading of the ICT Center, provision of free shuttle buses with special provisions for students and pupils, coaching sessions at the ICT Hub for GCE and JAMB candidates, vocational training for out-of-school children.

Furthermore, the Chairman outlined their plans, including the rebuilding of Oke-ira Secondary School in partnership with SUBEB/Scripts, collaboration with CDC/CDA to adopt and upgrade schools, and the installation of Solar PVs at schools by GSEL Solutions.

The initiatives implemented by the Ojodu LCDA align with the HEYS (Health, Education, Youth Empowerment, Security) Mission, complementing the broader THEMES (Traffic Management and Transportation, Health and Environment, Education and Technology, Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy, Entertainment and Tourism, and Security and Governance) agenda set by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
