Officers’ Wives Chop Off Police Woman’s Ear Inside Barracks

A Police Sergeant, Blessing Umongu, reportedly lost her ear after she was brutally attacked by three police officers wives inside the barracks for refusing to tell one of the women that her husband had impregnated a lady in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Olosun Barrack in Mushin area of Lagos where they reside.

The officers’ wives involved in the squabble were Mrs. Linda Uwadiegwu, 25, Ughaelunachi Justina, 61,  Oladimeji Seun,30 and Chinelo Okoh, 30.

P.M.EXPRESS scooped that the cause of the fight was as a result of Barracks gossip. The women involved were said to have informed one of them, Linda that her husband had impregnated a lady outside the Barracks and the victim knew but did not inform her.
Based on the alleged gossip, they reportedly ambushed the victim, a Police Sergeant, Blessing Umongu, on her way to work, brutalized, and chopped off her ear. She was rushed to the hospital but before the doctors could attend to her, the ear has died and could not fixed back.

The matter was initially tried before the Police Provost, who found their husbands culpable for negligence, incapable to control their wives and were subsequently sent away from the Barracks. While their wives were charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged assault on the victim and inflicting permanent injury on her.
They pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr. Raji Akeem, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the police to prove that they actually committed the offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Jedisola Adeyemi, granted the officers’ wives bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in prison custody but later perfected their bail conditions.
It was gathered that the matter had suffered several adjournments due to the deliberate delay to frustrate the victim and prevent her from getting justice in Court. However, the Court adjourned the matter till 17th July, 2019, for hearing.
