The President General of Ogbunike Progress Union, OPU, Ogbuefi Tochukwu Obiakor (Akudinaobi Ogbunike), has officially declared open the campaign for the election of the next Igwe Ogbunike at the monthly meeting of the traditional council of Ndichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike.
P.M.EXPRESS reports as was disclosed by Ogbuefi Tochukwu Obiakor that the contest for Igweship is open to all interested aspirants at home in Ogbunike, anywhere in Nigeria or overseas.
Speaking further at the event, which took place at the Okwuani Ogbunike at the Obi Ndichie Ogbunike, the OPU President General highlighted that what Ogbunike needs is development. He hinted that in their last meeting with the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR, they seriously indicated their earnest desire as a matter of urgency to have a new Igwe in order to help fast track the development of the town.
Ogbuefi Tochukwu Obiakor charged Ndichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike that the whole exercise and processes should be devoid of bickerings and litigations as it must be seen as purely a one family affair.
Meanwhile, while leaving the contest open to all interested parties, two interested aspirants were presented to Ndichie Ogbunike. The two noble individuals were Ogbuefi Dr. Chuma-Odili Harris Udokamma, FCMsp,FIPESA (Ogene Ogbunike) and Ogbuefi Elo Gwacham (Ezeudo Ogbunike).
To the cheers and admiration of Ndichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike present, the two aspirants promised to move Ogbunike forward in terms of aggressive development if given the opportunity to serve the Ogbunike people. They equally mentioned that it is not a do or die affair as it is left for Ogbunike people to decide who they consider fit and appropriate to serve them.
According to Group Capt. Mbanugo(Rtd) “More than anything else, Ogbunike needs someone with verifiably good character, who’s well exposed, enlightened, read, chivalrous, visionary and who can be a delightful ambassador of Ogbunike anywhere in the globe.
