Ogbunike Deserves A Befitting Palace & Hall For Ndi Ichie/Ogbuefi – Dr Chuma-Odili

WELCOME ADDRESS PRESENTED ON THE OCCASION OF OGBUNIKE PALACE AND NDI- ICHIE /OGBUEFI HALL BUILDING PROJECTS LAUNCHING BY COMRADE CHIEF GODWIN CHUKWUNWIKE IBEKWE (JP) AT THE PUBLIC LAUNCH TO RAISE FIVE MILLION NAIRA FOR THE  PROJECTS ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2021 AT ILO UMUEZEANA, UKALOR OGBUNIKE, OYI LGA, ANAMBRA STATE.

Compliment of the season! On behalf of the traditional Council of Ndi-Ichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike, I welcome and thank all of you present at this epochal event for finding time amidst your various engagements to honour our invitation today. It is an illustration of how you hold our culture in high extent. You have affirmed with your presence that you are ready to transmit our culture to generations coming ahead of us.

As you are all aware, Ogbunike is a blessed community, endowed with many natural elements, which have been recognized by institutions even beyond  our shores. Our cave, is being considered by United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO etc as one of the remarkable heritage sites in Africa. Our sons and daughters have done exceedingly well in various endeavours of life raging from politics, business, entertainment, sports, etc.

So, we have every reason to aspire to be like other great communities and towns in Nigeria. By the reason of what we have and who we are, I can courageously consider Ogbunike as part of Top 10 Towns in Nigeria! We have assembled here to aggregate our resources towards a deserving meeting hall of our Ndi-Ichie/Ogbunike as well as to build a beautiful edifice that will serve as the official palace of Igwe Ogbunike.

We all know the roll of Ndi-Ichie /Ogbuefi in maintaining peace and harmony in the community, and so the idea of granting them the necessary ambience where  they can conduct their activities should be a laudable one. The same also goes for the proposed official palace of Igwe Ogbunike which which will be the symbol of Ogbunike’s Monarchy.

The advantage of this practice, currently going on in many communities including Onitsha are enormous. By building a befitting Palace of our Igwe, the communities has bestowed a lasting legacy on our Monarchy, thereby establishing the myth and ambience of communal heritage on the office. The Igwe will be dissuaded from pressures of any building, no matter how magnificent it may look, so long as it lack that symbol of Ogbunike’s communal heritage. With this trend, the palace will not just be a building but a symbol, handed down to the  community by the appropriate authority. I  cannot stop commending the President, traditional Council of Ndi-ichie /Ogbuefi Ogbunike, Chief Francis Nwafor Onyezia (Ikpemalueziokwu) and members of his executive who started this laudable initiative to this level and which is also timely in the sense that it’s coming at a time when Ogbunike is at the verge of having a new king.

With the calibre of people who have gathered here today, I have no doubt in my mind that Ogbunike already has a befitting meeting hall of Ndi-Ichie Ogbunike as well as a beautiful palace for the Igwe. I urge all of us to donate generously towards this laudable cause, as we begin the journey to a new heritage site that will be our hallmark tomorrow. Our donation today, make us a part of that heritage and history.

Once again, I wish to thank everyone present and pray that Almighty God will help us realize our expectations of being a United and Progressive Community in Anambra State and Nigeria, in Jesus Name ……..!
