Ogene Ogbunike Unveils Widows’ Welfare Scheme

Renowned Igbo culture crusader and veteran journalist, Dr.Chuma-Odili Harris Udoka, popularly known as Ogene Ogbunike, is set to float a Widows Welfare Scheme as part of his empowerment programme for dejected widows across the 6 villages in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area, Anambra State.

 

He said the programme was designed to engage about 36 widows with at least 6 indigent widows per village, adding that the scheme will pay each widow a monthly allowance.

 

 

According to Edozie Ezebinugwu, DG, Media/Publicity, Team Make Ogbunike Great, the respected movie director/producer said that the Ogene Ogbunike Movement will also enroll the widows in its health insurance scheme to ameliorate their health challenges.

 

“Under this scheme, widows will be given monthly stipends known as “Widows’ Alert” with basic healthcare cover. ”

 

“We will conduct healthcare outreach programmes periodically to take care of their challenges.’’ Ogbuefi Chuma-Odili said.

 

Dr. Chuma-Odili also disclosed that he will be hosting the indigent widows to a life changing event at his country home in Azu, Ogbunike on 30th December, 2022. He hinted that all modalities were being worked out to engage more widows in the scheme, particularly to enable them access the healthcare programmes.
