The Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Solomon Adeola, said that his attention has been drawn to a story by an online medium, “Ogun News Express”, titled “Ogun West Senatorial District Seat: Akin Odunsi Dumps Akinlade for Yayi”.

Senator Adeola acknowledged that in his wide consultation for his ambition to represent the Ogun West Senatorial District in the Senate in 2023, he met with Senator Odunsi, as a respected leader and elder in the district, to present his mission, vision and objectives in seeking the position of Senator of Ogun West and that he was well received by the distinguished Senator.

He however, stated that at no point did Senator Odunsi express any view of dumping or supporting any aspirant in the race as an elder stateman and leader of all aspirants.

“I am surprised at seeing this story claiming that Senator Odunsi dumps Akinlade for me in the race. Nothing of such happened in my consultation with the respected leader and a distinguished Senator. I met him and he was kind enough to listen to my objective and vision of seeking to run for the seat of Ogun West Senate in 2023. At no point did he make any commitment to me or any other aspirant beyond wishing me well in my aspiration. He certainly did not mention any other aspirant in our discussion” Senator Adeola stated.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance said that, as an elder in the Senatorial District and indeed Ogun State, Senator Odunsi is a father to all aspirants, who will duly face delegates in the primary of the party stressing that the story that Senator Odunsi dumped any aspirant for another is not true.

Senator Adeola commended Senator Odunsi for his leadership and developmental roles in the Senatorial District over the years stressing that any misrepresentation from the unconfirmed report of his meeting with the Senator is highly regretted.
