All the efforts of Chief Sunday Ossai’s faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to hold Igbo Day celebration on Sunday at Police College has turned to devastating waste of time following the order of the Lagos State High Court.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the presiding judge, Justice Adenike Shonubi, of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, has ordered Chief Ossai and his faction not to hold meetings, gathering nor organizing intended Igbo Day celebration under Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State.

The order dated 16th October, 2025, by Justice Shonubi stated:

IT IS HEREBY ORDERED:

i. That leave be and is hereby granted to the Applicant an Interim, restraining the Defendants either injunction by themselves, agents, representatives, privies or members howsoever whatsoever from and acting, themselves, holding, parading, meetings or performing any public event in the name of OHANAEZE NDIGBO Lagos State Chapter pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

ii. The Order shall last for Seven (7) days after which it abates and the date commences from today the 16th day of October, 2025.
ISSUED UNDER THE HAND AND SEAL OF THE PRESIDING JUDGE THIS 16TH DAY OF OCTOBER, 2025.”

The suit before the Court is between Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene for himself and Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State and Chief Sunday Ossai faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State.

The Court arrived at the decision following the merit of the motion brought before the Court over plans by Chief Ossai’s group to organize Ohanaeze Ndigbo Igbo Day celebration.

This was happening after the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide,  Senator John Mbata, declared that the authentic Ohanaeze president in Lagos State is Chief Solomon Aguene based on the Court judgment ruled by Justice  A.M.Folami.

However, Chief Ossai disregard the decision of both Senator Mbata and Lagos State High Court and went on to organize Ohanaeze Ndigbo Igbo Day celebration.

The president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Solomon Aguene, who confirmed the order of the Court has warned Ndigbo to stay clear from the event because any person caught at the event will be arrested by the security agencies and charged before the Court for contempt.
