A human rights activist and President of Ambassadors of Peace and Enlightenment Foundation (AMEN), Comrade Saviour Iche, has stated that the Apex Igbo social-culturl organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has no single impact on Ndigbo and those parading themselves as their leaders should be ashamed of themselves.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Prince Iche stated this in Lagos State on the heels of crisis in Ohanaeze over leadership and the insensitivity of the Ohanaeze leadership to the security challenges in Igbo land.
He discribed the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo at both the National and State chapters as Government machineries and that was why they are fighting among themselves over leadership and cannot talk to Government about the welfare of Ndigbo.
He noted that Ohanaeze Ndigbo both at the National and State chapters are virtually in crises over leadership for their selfish interests and had abandoned their primary aim of forming Ohanaeze, which is the welfare of Ndigbo in general.
An embittered Comrade Iche said he could not point out a single thing which the present President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Mbata, has done for Ndigbo since he was elected in January, 2025.
“Let Senator John Mbata point out one single thing he has done for Ndigbo since he was elected President of Ohaneze Ndigbo.”
Iche noted that Nnamdi Kanu was arrested and being prosecuted, while the so called Ohanaeze leaders have not done anything because they have compromised and cannot muster the courage to engage the Government and negotiate his release whether he committed the alleged offence or not.
“Ohanaeze has been existing for long. My question is, who are they representing? Themselves or Ndigbo?  Senator Mbata should tell us his impact to Ndigbo. Are you people selected by Government as machinery?” he asked.
Iche believes that Ohanaeze leaders are Government machinery working for Government and not for the welfare of Ndigbo, otherwise there are certain things such as insecurity, kidnapping, armed robbery,  etc going on in Igbo land, which they have not used their influence to reach the Government for solution nor voice out, yet they claim to be Igbo leaders.
He regretted that what is in the public space about Ohanaeze remains power tussle, going to Courts, high level of sycophancy while other tribes, Arewa,  Afenifere etc. are busy negotiating and fighting for the welfare of their people.
He urged the Ohanaeze leaders to emulate leaders of other tribes, who are working tirelessly for the welfare of their people whereas they have been subjected to mockery because of their infighting and compromise.
He also urged the Ohanaeze Ndigbo to work and negotiate with the Government for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu because if he was to be from another tribe, they would work to achieve his release as seen in the case of Abba Kyari and Sunday Igboho.
