The amiable President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, has reconfirmed Eze Ifeanyi Peter Asonye as the authentic Ezendigbo in Ibeji Lekki LCDA in the State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Aguene stated this on the heels of malicious publication by a non-existing Ibeji Lekki media, being circulated in the social media by unknown faces renouncing Eze Asonye as Ezendigbo in Ibeji Lekki.
Chief Aguene, who is also the Lord Mayor of Peace Ambassador, explained that Eze Asonye was crowned the Ezendigbo in Ibeji Lekki by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State based on merit and that was why Chief Aguene, President of the Igbo Speaking community,  Chief Sunday Udeh and the King maker, Chief John Uche, collectively crowned him Eze Ohazurume of Ibeji Lekki LCDA.
He urged members of the general public to disregard the malicious publication and give every support to Eze Asonye as the first class Ezendigbo with the massive turnout by Ndigbo during the installation of his Ezeship.
Chief Aguene explained that the issue of Ezendigbo stool is Ndigbo affairs and it is Ohanaeze Ndigbo that crowns Eze, which was done during the coronation of Eze Asonye.
Aguene also clarified that he is the authentic Ohanaeze President in Lagos State and his tenure will elapse in 2026 when another election will be conducted.
The malicious publication stated that Ibeju-Lekki Local Government received numerous inquiries from various stakeholders and concerned Lagosians regarding the recently publicized  installation of Eze Asonye as Ezendigbo of Ibeju Lekki LCDA by Chief Aguene.
It stated that neither the traditions of Ibeju-Lekki nor the Chieftaincy Laws of Lagos State recognized the title of Ezendigbo of Ibeju Lekki LCDA.
However, the Igbo Apex leader in Lagos State, Chief Solomon Aguene, has clarified it and stated that the installation of Ezendigbo is the business of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, which was done in the case of Eze Asonye as Ezendigbo in Ibeji Lekki LCDA.
