The renaming of the former Anambra Cargo and Passengers’ International Airport, Umueri, to Prof. Chinua Achebe Airport, Umueri, is iconic.
On behalf of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Anambra State Chapter, commend His Excellency Professor Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, for such a legendary declaration that has engulfed the entire state into jubilation.
It is of utmost importance that history be remodelled in such a way that the contributions of those sterling statesmen towards cresting the state’s name on the sand of time in national and international history, should be honoured in such a way that remarkable infrastructures be named after these patriots, as it would help to motivate the living to contribute their quota to the growth and betterment of society.
I hereby appeal to Governor Soludo to sustain the immortalization of the great Ndigbo, who sacrificed hugely for the society during their time. I call on other governors of Southeast Eastern states to key into this iconic gesture of Soludo as a show of solidarity.
Permit me to use this opportunity to call on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to consider more Igbo descendants for national awards as well as immortalise other illustrious deceased Ndigbo, who have contributed to the peace and tranquillity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
