The President General of the apex Igbo Sociocultural Organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Mbata, has confirmed and declared Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene as the authentic President of Ohaneze Lagos State chapter.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the outcome of the meeting held by Ohanaeze National Executives led by Senator John Mbata, which was held at Black Diamond Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, to resolve the lingering crises in the Lagos State chapter between the Chief Aguene and Chief Sunday Ossai factions.

At the meeting, Senator Mbata told Chief Ossai’s group led by Prince Ubochi C. Ubochi, Robert Obasi and Chief Evaristus Ozonweke, that they can go to Court to challenge Chief Aguene in Court but as far as the Court judgement was concerned, Aguene is the Authentic President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos till 23rd April, 2026 until Judgement  is vacated.

After the pronouncement, Prince Ubochi  reportedly told Mbata that his group has filed different suits before the Court to challenge Aguene’s consent judgment which declared him as Ohanaeze President.

It was then that Mbata told Chief Ossai’s group that they can continue to challenge the matter before the Court but since Aguene has a subsisting Court judgment, he remains the president till he conducts another election in 2026.

Immediately after the pronouncement,  Chief Ozonweke dumped Chief Sunday Ossai’s group, aligned with Chief Aguene’s group and called for peace and unity in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State.

This was confirmed by Chief Aguene, who commended Senator John Mbata for his honesty, integrity and courage to identify with the rule of law, fairness and Justice.

The declaration by the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator Mbata, may have finally resolved the issue of who is the authentic Ohanaeze president in Lagos State.

Meanwhile, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene has appointed an electoral committee headed by Chief Oliver Akubueze to conduct election for new executives before his tenure will elapse in 2026.
