KINGSLEY EBERE
Factional President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief (Dr.) Omenazu Jackson, has declared that Nigeria needs total patriotism and national rebirth.
P.M.EXPRESS reports as was contained in a press release following an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide convened in Enugu State on the state of the nation.
It stated: “After sober deliberations at the emergency NEC meeting on the worsening state of the Nigerian federation, we resolve to speak directly, truthfully, and without ambiguity”.
“Nigeria is wounded. Her soul bleeds. Her children are disillusioned. Her future hangs in the balance.”
“As custodians of our heritage and conscience of our people, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide now calls for total national rebirth — through sincere patriotism, visionary leadership, and collective responsibility.”
“Our humanity is lost in the valley of crass deception if we continue to think, feel and act as if all is well with Nigeria. Our social bond is our strength. The time to be a Nigerian is now — or we can as well kiss her goodbye. But honestly, I will prefer to bequeath that great country called Nigeria to my children’s children.”
“For too long, we have allowed ourselves to be divided by tribe, manipulated by politics, and subdued by mediocrity. The time has come to reclaim Nigeria not just in name, but in truth, equity, and shared destiny.”
“Any nation whose citizens are not patriotic is a failed nation. They end up as betrayals of their social fabric, international disgrace, debtors and stagnated generation.”
“Where Is the Brotherhood? We recite, “Though tribe and tongue may differ, in brotherhood we stand.” But today, under widespread disenchantment, we must ask:
Where is that brotherhood? Where is that Nigeria?
“What we see instead is an erosion of national faith, a deepening of regional tension, and a tragic loss of hope.”
“History warned us: Chief Obafemi Awolowo (1947): “Nigeria is not a nation. It is a mere geographical expression.” General Murtala Mohammed (1975): “We must remain here and salvage it together.” Let us heed their warnings and choose rebirth over rupture.”
*Resolutions from the Emergency NEC Meeting*
At the conclusion of our emergency meeting in Enugu, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide puts forward these national imperatives:
A National Day of Reflection and Recommitment* .To reawaken patriotic consciousness across Nigeria. Civic Education for All Generation, Reviving the values of duty, discipline, and national unity. Justice, Equity, and True Federalism*  Ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all ethnic nationalities.Youth Empowerment and National Inclusion Channeling the creativity and energy of Nigerian youth for nation-building, Institutional Rebirth, Rooting out corruption, impunity, and systemic decay.
National Healing and Reconciliation through dialogue, forgiveness, and justice.
Demilitarization of Civil Spaces, Ending state violence and creating a humane democratic environment.”
“We cannot outsource the rebuilding of Nigeria. It is not the work of foreigners. It is the solemn duty of all her citizens. Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Ijaw, Tiv, Kanuri and all others.”*
Chief (Dr.) Omenazu Jackson
A Direct Call to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
Let Renewed Hope Be Action, Not Rhetoric
“Your Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, you bear the heavy mandate of history. You rode into office on the crest of Renewed Hope. The Nigerian people believed -now they watch.
“We call on you to urgently gather the broken bricks of Nigeria and molter them together for a bonded and inclusive nation. Let the Renewed Hope mantra graduate from rhetoric to reality. Posterity is watching. History beckons.
With decisive action, national dialogue, and moral leadership, you can pilot a new Nigeria to your eternal credit. But failure to do so will confer upon your administration a tragic seat in the dustbin of history — where broken promises go to rot.
Final Appeal
With tears in my eyes, I call for a new Nigeria —
A Nigeria where love reigns in all hearts.
Where no citizen is made a stranger in their own land.
Where justice is not a privilege for the few, but a right for all.
Where our children can dream again, and our flag becomes a banner of pride, not pain.
This is the Nigeria we deserve. This is the Nigeria we must build.
God bless Nigeria.
God bless the Federal Republic.
God bless all its peoples” the statement concluded.
