The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Solomon Aguene, has endorsed Eze Uche Dimgba (Okpotemba) for the vacant position of Ezendigbo in the State following the demise of Late Eze Hyacinth Ohazuruike.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Aguene stated this in his office at Ikoyi, Lagos, concerning who should occupy the position after the final burial rites of late Ohazuruike.
Chief Aguene, also known as Udochia Ndigbo, explained that among the suggested names for the position, he believed that Eze Uche Dimgba is the best and he will support him if he declares his interest to vie for the position.
He explained that Eze Dimgba has the courage, charisma and confidence with leadership qualities to lead Ndigbo in Lagos State.
On how the new Ezendigbo will emerge, Chief Aguene suggested that all the contestants should vie for the position and free and fair elections should be conducted and anyone among the candidates that wins should be crowned Ezendigbo Lagos State.
On the position of Eze Christian Nwachukwu who lays claim to the position, Aguene said that Nwachukwu is Igbo one and nobody is dragging the position with him.
He suggested that Nwachukwu should be given the position as Patron of Ndieze while another candidate should be elected for the position of Ezendigbo in the State.
On the issue of rotation of Ezendigbo, he stated that there is nothing like rotation of power and explained that Ohanaeze does not rotate power among the States as suggested by some persons.
He stated that rotation of power will not be in the interest of Ndigbo in Lagos State and posited that it does not give room for competence, capacity and capable candidates to emerge and should be discouraged, noting that it is not contained in the Ohanaeze constitution.
It must be noted that Chief Solomon Aguene is the second person that has declared support for Eze Uche Dimgba; the first person was Chief Chris Ekwilo, who has been campaigning for Eze Dimgba on the social media.
Chief Ekwilo also claimed that he was among the Kingmakers appointed by the National Ohanaeze to crown Ezendigbo in Lagos State, which has been debunked by some Igbo leaders in Lagos State, who described his claim as a lie from the pit of hell.
