Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State yesterday flagged off its 2023 Carnival with sporting activities and bazaar in a series of events earmarked for the celebration to boost and showcase local tourism and culture.
The sporting programmes began with an aerobics and fitness activity, where participants performed series of physical exercises before the main sports event, which was a novelty football match between the Exco and Management Teams. The match witnessed scintillating showcase of skills by both teams and it was won by the Exco Team as it ended 2-O with the Mayor of Ojodu LCDA, Hon Segun Odunmbaku, scoring the winning goal.
At the bazaar programme, i1000 residents were given 5Kg of Rice at subsidized rate of 1000 Naira at the venue and there was a nanotraders empowerment programme by the Chairperson, Mrs Abimbola Odunmbaku, in which she donated 50,000 Naira each to 100 petty traders. Beneficiaries were full of praises while commending the administration of Hon Segun Odunmbaku for the progressive and inclusive governance, which is uplifting the lives of the people in Ojodu LCDA.
There will be a raffle draw taking place today and the star prizes to be won include a Brand New Keke, Deep Freezer, 55″ Television and many more consolation prizes. As part of the programme, there will also be boxing exhibition matches, traditional masquerade displays, cultural performances. The main concert will feature the likes of Tuface, Pasuma, Small Doctor and other guest artistes.
