The lawmaker representing Ikeja Constituency 2 and Chairman, House Committee on Lands, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (ARK), has commiserated with the families of the victims of the Ojodu trailer accident.

Expressing his shock and sadness, Hon ARK said, “The report of the unfortunate truck accident that took the lives of our innocent school children in Ojodu this afternoon came to me as a rude shock and my heart bleeds”.

“Immediately my attention was called to the incident around  3.05pm, I made contact with the DPO of Ojodu Police Division to get first hand information about the incident, he gave a graphic narration of what happened and confirmed there were indeed, fatalities. He also raised concerns about the tensed security situation at the time.”

“The report from the DPO prompted me to contact the State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, at around 3.10pm, the CP gave his assurances that security reinforcement and emergency responders were already on the ground in the area and more were still coming to take care of the situation. The CP also confirmed that the murderous truck driver had been arrested around Excellence Hotel in his attempt to run away.”

“The RRS Commander, Rapid Response Squad, also called back to assure that all hands were on deck to forestall any breakdown of law and order.”

“Shortly after that, I reached out to the Councillor representing the area, Hon. Akinade Olumide and other community leaders for further assessment of the situation.”

“It is quite sad and unfortunate indeed, our children are supposed to be safe and secured in and outside the school environment as they strife hard to build a better future. It was a heart-rending occurrence in our constituency today and we can only pray and plan we don’t witness such again.”

“I hereby commiserate with the families of the affected students as well as their school authority and all stakeholders. I pray to God to grant them the strength to bear these irreparable losses.”

“While appealing to our youth to remain peaceful and calm, even in the face of this avoidable grief, I also call on our security agencies to spring into action and carry out thorough investigations on the remote and immediate causes of the incident with a view to ensuring justice is served and  also to prevent a future re-occurrence.”

“Adequate medical attention for the injured students are currently being monitored.”
“A motion to address the incident will be moved on the floor of the Lagos State House of Assembly – LAHA shortly.Whoever is found culpable in this dastardly act will be dealt with according to the Law.”
“May God console the affected families and the entire Ojodu community” Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu prayed.
