A visit to the Federal Polytechnic in Oko town in Anambra State may make it appear to be a citadel of learning but beyond that it serves as haven for prostitution popularly known as alternative sex workers.
P.M.EXPRESS investigation revealed that the students, mostly the young ladies, appear not to have only gone there to learn but also to ply probably the oldest trade in the world – prostitution.
The activities by the ladies have many names apart from alternative; some call it corporate sex workers while some say it is monkey business for married men.
It was gathered that once it is getting close to 6pm, the ladies will begin to prepare and dress up as if they are traveling. But it was observed that they do not have any mission than to hang on the roads waiting for their numerous clients mainly traders from various markets in Anambra, government officials and politicians, who are mostly married men trooping to the town to pick them as luggage to hotels and various guest houses.
Some of the students who spoke to P.M.EXPRESS correspondent said that it was a normal business that had been going on since the school was established in the town but that the only difference was that more ladies have joined the business and the supply became higher than the demand thus the stiff competition amongst the ladies.
One of ladies, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that it was more of contract business; where one will be contracted to supply 20 ladies and the ladies were always available once the deal was struck.
She said that what counts in the business were the money involved and not the age of the clients as most clients were mainly married men, who really want fun with the young ladies.
On the fees for the romp, she explained that it depends on clients but that the standard fee for day break romp was between N5,000 and N10,000, feeding and drinks. She said that special services like sucking attracts more fees and added that it serves dual purposes; to keep the clients who may like the act and retain the contact with them.
“Most married men come to the school to pick us and we provide quality services and as such, they do not miss their wives in their various homes when they are with us especially during the weekends” she narrated.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that night life in Oko town can be compared to that of other cities like Lagos, Owerri, Port Harcourt and Enugu because of the location of the school there. Business men are daily reportedly investing in hotel business, which appeared more profitable and it was spreading to a town very close to Oko known as Omoakpara, where beehive of activities go on even at night.
Some traders, who P.M.EXPRESS correspondent met in the town, expressed satisfaction over the services of the ladies and said that some of them do come from Awka, Onitsha, Enugu and other places to Oko town during the weekends to pick the ladies and relax in the hotels around.
However, few of the men said one can easily fall prey to armed robbers or kidnappers as they can be targeted in the process because of the low level of security noticed in the town.
