Olona’s Cup To Light Up Boripe Town In Osun State

Ada town in Boripe local government council, Osun State will be agog for the maiden edition of Adebayo Olagunju Foundation Football Competition for youths in the town and its environs.

Preparations for the end of the year soccer event, according to the Local Organising Committee, have reached an advanced stage.

The football fiesta tagged ‘Olona’s Cup’ is being sponsored by the Foundation will involve youth teams in Ada town, Boripe local government area, and two other local government areas; Ifelodun and Odo-Otin in Osun state.

The youth soccer event is to kick-off in the later part of December, while registration for the soccer has since commenced at the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Secretariat in Osun State.

According to the sponsor of the maiden soccer fiesta, Hon. Adebayo Olagunju, the competition is put together as part of his corporate social responsibility to the community, and to encourage the spirit of sportsmanship among youths in the area and its environs.

However, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the event, Coach Ojesanya Oladipo noted that the committee has been given the mandate to work out modalities to organize the competition.

Ojesanya, who also is the Director of Sports at Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State affirmed: “The committee is also expected to bring to life the soccer tradition of the town which will serve as a platform for discovering talents from the grassroots.

“The tasks of the committee also include to organise a bigger and better soccer competition for the year 2021.”

Meanwhile, the Coach Ojesanya-led Committee had since been inaugurated and swung into action after having their inaugural meeting where they drew up plans to carry out the tasks at hand.

“Registration of teams for the week-long soccer competition has commenced and it will last for two weeks, while draws for the main event will hold in December.
