The ongoing 9th edition of Olori Hadijat Gbadamosi Memorial Female Football Competition has reached the quarter final stage
The competition, which started few weeks ago at Igando Palace football playground, featured ten female teams across the Lagos State.
Two quarter final matches would be play on Saturday as FC Phoenix Queens face Heroes Queens FC, while Aseyori Queens take on English Queens.
Action continues on Sunday when Future Stars Queens battle Goldenswan Queens, BOG Queens confront Nakamura Queens in the last quarter final of the day.
Match coordinator, Sulaiman Gbadamonsi said the competition was organized to honour the first wife of Oba Lasisi Gbadebo Gbadamonsi who lost his wife ten years ago.
“I am organizing this tournament in remembrance of my late mother who died almost a decade ago. This is the ninth edition of the competition and I am happy that the tourney is waxing stronger because every edition we try to improve on our organization, officiating and participating of teams.
“I think this year’s edition has lived up to expectations in terms of organization and standard of play by the participating teams. As the teams are preparing for their quarter final matches, I wish all the remaining teams in the quarter final best of luck in their outings,” he said.
Meanwhile the U-10 of the male competition has reached the semi final stage. In the quarter final matches played recently, Dynamous FC defeated All Stars 2-1, Mageeco FC lost 3-4 to Sammy FC on penalty shootout.
In other quarter final results,Samadek FC defeated Fathfut FC 4-3 on penalty shootout after one goal apiece at the regulation time. The last quart final match would be played on Saturday between Marvellous FC and Blessed Stars.
