The Olota of Ota, Oba Professor Adeyemi AbdulKabir Obalanlege, alongside other Awori traditional rulers, has reaffirmed support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the preferred candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.
The monarchs made this declaration on Tuesday during the visit of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, to the Olota’s palace in Ota to seek the support of traditional rulers ahead of the election.
Speaking on behalf of the Awori traditional institution, Oba Obalanlege said it has reached a firm position on the 2027 governorship election.
He stressed that Ogun West had experienced what he described as “indescribable marginalisation” since the creation of Ogun State.
The monarch stated that equity, fairness and justice require that Ogun West be allowed to produce the next governor, adding that the Awori people had resolved to support a candidate whose agenda aligns with the senatorial district’s interests.
He described Senator Adeola, the Okanlomo of Awori land, as a reliable, competent and credible son of the soil capable of integrating Ogun West into the state’s history of governance.
“The understanding of traditional rulers in Awori land and by extension the people of Awori in Ogun West is to ensure that Senator Yayi succeeds the incumbent governor in 2027,” he said.
Other Awori monarchs present at the meeting included the Oloja Eku of Igbesa, Oba Abdulazeez Akinde; Onilogbo of Ilogbo Asowo, Oba Samuel Ojugbele; Alagbara of Agbara, Oba Jayeola Agunbiade; Alagbado of Agbado, Oba Adedayo Shyllon; Olodan of Odan Abuja, Oba Nosiru Tesilimi; Onikogbo, Oba Nurudeen Osoja; and Onitigbo, Oba Victor Fagbayi, among others.
The traditional rulers’ collective endorsement underscores their commitment to ensuring that Ogun West is adequately represented in the upcoming election.
