ONC Appeals To Rivers Assembly For Speedy Passage Of 2026 Appropriation Bill

 

The Orashi National Congress, ONC, a notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, has appealed to the Rivers State House of Assembly to expedite the passage of the 2026 Appropriation Bill recently presented by Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS.

 

The appeal was made by the President General of ONC, Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, who said a prompt passage of the budget will translate to immediate project awards and tangible benefits for Rivers people.

Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, Comrade Ibe said the Congress is making the appeal in the interest of development and stability across the state.

“The Congress wishes to use this medium to appeal to the Rivers State House of Assembly for the speedy passage of the appropriation bill, which was recently presented by the Executive Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara,” he stated.

“This we believe is for the good of Rivers people as it will immediately culminate into the award of contracts for projects that will better the lives of our people.”

He noted that with the return of peace to the state, citizens are now looking forward to speedy development that matches the prevailing atmosphere of calm.

 

Comrade Ibe commended the leadership and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for prioritizing the budget and putting it on the front burner for legislative action.

“While we thank the leadership and entire members of Rivers State House of Assembly for putting the appropriation bill in the front burner, we appeal for speedy passage, which will push up economic and infrastructural development,” he added.

 

According to the ONC President General, early passage of the appropriation law will enable the executive to commence implementation of key projects in infrastructure, health, education, youth empowerment and job creation across the 23 local government areas.

The Orashi National Congress expressed optimism that the 2026 budget, when passed, will consolidate on Governor Fubara’s development agenda and ensure equitable distribution of projects to all parts of the state, including the Orashi region.

 

The group pledged its continued support for government policies aimed at peace, unity and sustainable development in Rivers State.

“We thank God that peace returned to our state and speedy development is expected to crown it all,” Comrade Ibe said.
