ONC Applauds Dr. Reason Ebubechukwu Onya For Graduating With Perfect GPA From I.M. Sechenov Medical University

Respected Niger Delta socio-cultural group, Orashi National Congress, ONC, under the leadership of its President General, Amb. Comr. Emeni Ibe, has extended heartfelt congratulations and commendation to Dr. Reason Ebubechukwu Onya, an illustrious son of Ekpeye land, for his exceptional academic achievement as the best graduating student from Moscow First Medical University, now known as I.M. Sechenov University, Russia.
Dr. Onya, the first son of renowned scholar, Dr. Reason Onya, made history by graduating with a perfect 5.0 GPA, scoring A’s in all his courses—an extraordinary academic feat that earned him the top position in his class at one of Russia’s most prestigious medical institutions.
In a congratulatory statement issued on Tuesday, Amb. Emeni Ibe described the young doctor’s achievement as “a monumental pride to Ekpeye Nation and the entire Orashi Region”, noting that his brilliance has not only brought honour to his family but has placed the Orashi people on the global academic map.
“Dr. Reason Ebubechukwu Onya is a shining example of the excellence, discipline, and intellect that resides in the Orashi people. His perfect performance in medical school—at a time when academic success is highly competitive—demonstrates the power of focus, faith, and family support. We celebrate him as a true ambassador of our region,” Amb. Ibe stated.
The Congress also praised Dr. Onya’s parents, especially Dr. Reason Onya, for their unwavering investment in education and nation-building, adding that their values continue to inspire a new generation of leaders and scholars across Rivers State and beyond.
“This is not just a family success—it is a regional and national success. Dr. Onya’s story will ignite hope in many young people in our communities. It proves that we can rise, compete globally, and lead in fields like medicine and science,” the ONC leader said.
The Congress expressed its desire to honour Dr. Onya at an upcoming academic excellence event and called on Rivers State Government and stakeholders in the education sector to recognize and support outstanding young achievers like him.
Videos from the graduation ceremony, including Dr. Onya’s valedictory speech, have gone viral on social media, showcasing moments of deep inspiration and celebration as he addressed fellow graduates and faculty at Sechenov University.
