Notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi National Congress, ONC, has commended stakeholders of the Simplified Movement in Ahoada East Local Government Area for embracing peace and reconciliation and resolving to join the Rainbow Coalition loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

In a statement signed by its President General, Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe, the ONC, which is the apex socio-cultural body of the Orashi people in Abua/Odual, Ahoada East, Ahoada West and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGAs, said it received the resolution with great joy.

“We commend you highly. Your decision to choose peace over conflict, unity over division, and progress over personal grievances is a mark of maturity, wisdom, and true love for Ahoada East, Orashi Region and Rivers State,” the statement read.

Ibe said the decision aligns with ONC’s cardinal agenda of peace, unity and security, which is the theme of its forthcoming 3rd Orashi Peace, Unity and Security Summit scheduled for October 30, 2026 in Omoku.

The group particularly commended Rt. Hon. Dr. Ehie Edison for his statesmanlike position that politics is not a battlefield of permanent enemies but a platform for dialogue, and that reconciliation is not a sign of weakness but a demonstration of strength.

“We thank all stakeholders of the defunct Simplified Movement for standing firm with Governor Fubara during the period of disagreement. Your loyalty has been tested and proven,” Ibe said.

The ONC, describing itself as the father to all political tendencies in Orashi, assured the stakeholders of its full support in the new chapter of cooperation under the Rainbow Coalition and urged members to remain peaceful, law-abiding and committed to the directives of Governor Fubara and Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison.

*ONC Lists 10-Point Charter Of Demands For Rainbow Coalition*

Meanwhile, the ONC has presented a 10-point charter of demands to the leadership of the Rainbow Coalition and Governor Fubara as conditions for its massive support for all candidates of the coalition from President to House of Assembly.

In its charter, the group said Orashi has over 300,000 votes and that its support must be matched with development.

The demands include:

1. Establishment of a Federal University or Federal Polytechnic in Orashi Region through the upgrade of existing institutions.
