Following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointment of Rt. Hon. Prince Chibudom Nwuche as the Chairman of the South/South Development Commission, a strategic body established to drive sustainable development and economic growth in the oil-rich South-South region of Nigeria, the apex Niger Delta socio-cultural group, Orashi National Congress, ONC, has congratulated the distinguished son of Rivers State, saying the appointment is well deserved.
The announcement has been met with widespread commendation, particularly from leaders and stakeholders in the Niger Delta. Among the first to publicly congratulate Prince Nwuche was Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe, President General of the Orashi National Congress, who described the appointment as “a recognition of leadership, service, and integrity”.
Amb. Ibe said: “On behalf of the Orashi National Congress, ONC, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Rt. Hon. Prince Chibudom Nwuche on his well-deserved appointment. This is a significant step in ensuring experienced and visionary leadership guides the Commission to deliver on its mandate. We are confident that his tenure will bring meaningful progress and transformation to our region”.
“Rt. Hon. Nwuche, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and an influential voice in the South-South, brings decades of experience in governance, public policy, and regional advocacy. His appointment signals the federal government’s commitment to addressing the developmental challenges in the Niger Delta with capable and credible leadership.”
Observers see the move as timely, especially amid growing calls for equitable distribution of national resources and infrastructure investment in oil-producing communities.
As Chairman, Nwuche is expected to spearhead programs aimed at job creation, infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, and youth empowerment across the South-South states.
With stakeholders like the Orashi National Congress, ONC, pledging full support, expectations are high that Prince Nwuche’s leadership will herald a new era of inclusive growth and regional stability.
