ONC Constitutes Organising Committee For 2026 Flood Sensitization & Awareness Campaign

Notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group group the Orashi National Congress, ONC, has officially constituted the Organising Committee for its forthcoming Sensitization and Awareness Campaign on Flood Management, Control and Prevention, scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ahoada Town Hall, Ahoada East Local Government Area, Rivers State.

 

The programme, which is being organised in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), South-South Zonal Office, is aimed at educating residents of the Orashi region and neighbouring communities on flood preparedness, mitigation, response, and prevention strategies ahead of the flood season.

 

To ensure the successful planning and execution of the event, the President General of the Orashi National Congress, Ambassador Comrade Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, has approved the constitution of the Organising Committee.

 

Hon. Isreal David Dominion has been appointed as the Chairman of the Organising Committee. He is expected to coordinate all activities leading to the successful hosting of the programme, working closely with relevant stakeholders, government agencies, and members of the planning team.

 

The event is expected to attract key government officials, emergency management experts, traditional rulers, community leaders, youth organisations, and members of the public.

 

The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Her Excellency Prof. (Mrs.) Ngozi Nma Odu, DSSRS, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour, while the Head of Operations, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Port Harcourt Operations Office, will deliver the keynote address.

 

Executive Chairmen of Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Abua/Odual and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas are also expected to grace the occasion as Guests of Honour.

The ONC called on residents across the Orashi region to participate actively in the campaign, emphasizing that flood disaster management is a collective responsibility requiring sustained public awareness and community action.

 

The Congress expressed confidence in the leadership of Hon. Isreal David Dominion and the Organising Committee, noting that their commitment and dedication will contribute significantly to the success of the programme and the promotion of safer, more resilient communities across the Orashi region
