The Orashi National Congress, ONC, the apex socio-cultural body representing the Abua, Egbema, Ekpeye, Engenni, Kugbo, Ndoni, Odual, and Ogba ethnic nationalities in Rivers State, has described Senator Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry-Banigo as the best Senator ever produced by Rivers West Senatorial District.
The commendation was given by the President General of ONC, Ambassador Comrade Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, following what the Congress called a critical assessment of past and present representatives of the district at the National Assembly.
According to the Congress, Senator Banigo’s performance in key areas set her apart from previous lawmakers.
ONC highlighted her remarkable achievements in healthcare, human capital development, agriculture, youth empowerment, education, and community development as evidence of purposeful leadership.
“Senator Banigo’s remarkable achievements in healthcare, human capital development, agriculture, youth empowerment, education, and community development have distinguished her from every previous representative of Rivers West,” Amb. Ibe stated.
The ONC President General noted that one quality that makes Senator Banigo unique is her commitment to service even after it became clear she would not be returning to the Senate.
He said while many politicians slow down once their tenure is ending, Senator Banigo rather intensified her interventions for the people of Rivers West through empowerment programmes, support for farmers, healthcare outreaches, and other people-oriented projects.
“Even after knowing she would not be returning to the Senate, she never abandoned her people. Instead, she intensified her efforts to improve the lives of her constituents. That is the hallmark of true leadership and selfless service,” Ibe said.
Amb. Ibe added that Senator Banigo’s legacy should serve as a benchmark for quality representation, urging current and future political office holders to emulate her consistency, dedication, and focus on the welfare of the people.
The Congress reaffirmed its appreciation for the former Senator’s contributions to the development of Rivers West Senatorial District and expressed confidence that her example of impactful leadership would continue to inspire a new generation of public servants.
“Her commitment shows that leadership is not about how long you stay in office, but about the impact you make while there,” the ONC PG concluded.
