Respected Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi National Congress, ONC, has presented an award of excellence to Pipelines Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL), for what the group described as the company’s exemplary performance in handling surveillance contracts across the eastern corridor of the Niger Delta region.
Cisca News reports that on Thursday 20th November, 2025, the ONC delegation led by the President General of ONC, Amb. Emeni Ibe (JP, AP) commended and presented the prestigious award to PINL during the Stakeholders Meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for the company’s remarkable contributions to security, employment, community engagement, and overall stability within the oil-bearing states of Rivers, Bayelsa, Abia, and Imo.
Before the presentation of the award, Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe said, “The Orashi National Congress, during our recent deliberation, deeply considered the huge impacts of Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited in our region. PINL has set a new benchmark in pipeline surveillance operations by engaging over 35,000 persons across various categories—including surveillance personnel, vendors, contractors, administrative staff, clerical workers, and stakeholder engagement teams.
“These figures align with documented employment statistics under the NNPC’s surveillance programmes and reflect the cumulative support system that keeps the oil and gas infrastructure functioning daily. This broad inclusion has provided “dignity in work” for thousands of men and women in a region where unemployment once fueled restiveness and militancy. So, PINL deserves our commendation and it was the reason we considered the company for this prestigious award of excellence.”
While reacting to the award of excellence on behalf of the Managing Director, Dr Akpos Mezeh, the General Manager of PINL, thanked the ONC for the gesture. He gladly received the award in the presence of the representative of the National Security Adviser, NNPCL officials and Government functionaries.
On behalf of PINL, Dr Akpos dedicated the award to the people of Niger Delta while stating that the company is recording resounding success because of the genuine cooperation of the people in the communities.
The ONC used the opportunity afforded by the presentation of the award of excellence to PINL to reaffirm its support for initiatives that promote peace, transparency, and sustainable development while encouraging other operators in the region to emulate the PINL model.
