ONC President General, Emeni Ibe Condemns Killing Of Two Police Officers In Rivers

The President General of notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi National Congress (ONC), Ambassador Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, has strongly condemned the killing of two police officers attached to the Aluu Divisional Police Station, who were reportedly murdered by unidentified gunmen while on duty at a security checkpoint in Rivers State.

 

The tragic incident reportedly occurred at about 9:00 p.m. on Monday along the Mbodo-Aluu axis of Obiri Ikwerre Road in Ikwerre Local Government Area. The officers were said to be conducting a routine stop-and-search operation when the assailants opened fire, killing them at the scene before fleeing.

 

According to reports, a video circulating on social media appears to show the lifeless bodies of the slain officers, still dressed in their official uniforms. However, the authenticity of the footage has not been independently verified.

 

Reacting to the incident, Ambassador Emeni Ibe described the attack as “heinous, barbaric, senseless, and completely unacceptable,” stressing that the perpetrators must be identified, arrested, and brought to justice without delay.

He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Commissioner of Police, the officers and men of the Rivers State Command and the immediate families of the slain officers over the painful loss.

 

“The murder of security personnel carrying out their lawful duty is an attack on the peace, security, and stability of our society. Such acts of violence must never be tolerated. We stand in total solidarity with the Nigeria Police Force in this difficult moment and pray that God grants the families of the deceased officers the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” Ambassador Ibe stated.

 

He further called on security agencies to intensify investigations into the attack and ensure that those responsible are swiftly apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

 

The ONC President General noted that the incident has further heightened security concerns across parts of Rivers State and urged residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing credible information that could assist in tracking down the perpetrators.

 

Ambassador Emeni Ibe reaffirmed the Orashi National Congress’ commitment to supporting all lawful efforts aimed at restoring peace and safeguarding lives and property across Rivers State.
