The Orashi National Congress, ONC, a notable Niger Delta socio-cultural organization, is set to honour the Chief Medical Director of Savealife Mission Hospital, Dr. Richard Okoye, with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding contributions to healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
The President General of ONC, Ambassador Comrade Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, disclosed this in a statement on behalf of the Congress, noting that the decision was unanimously reached after careful consideration of Dr. Okoye’s service to humanity.
Amb. Ibe said the ONC resolved to honour Dr. Okoye for his unwavering commitment to the development of the health sector, particularly in Rivers State and across the Niger Delta.
“Over the years, Dr. Richard Okoye, through the Savealife Mission Hospital, has reduced medical tourism and saved the nation foreign expenditures following his interventions,” he stated.
According to him, the hospital under Dr. Okoye’s leadership has become a reference point for quality, affordable, and specialized medical care, providing treatment to thousands of Nigerians who hitherto would have sought medical attention abroad.
The ONC President General further commended Dr. Okoye for his professionalism, pedigree, and proven integrity in the discharge of his duties.
“We appreciate his immense contributions to healthcare, his pedigree and proven integrity. In line with the goals of the ONC, we have resolved to honour him for his commitment and efforts,” Amb. Ibe added.
He noted that the award aligns with ONC’s mandate of identifying, celebrating, and encouraging sons and daughters of the region who are making significant impact in various sectors of national life.
Amb. Ibe emphasized that honouring Dr. Okoye is also a way of inspiring more professionals to invest in critical sectors such as health, education, and community development.
The ONC said details of the award presentation ceremony will be announced in due course.
Dr. Richard Okoye and Savealife Mission Hospital are widely recognized for pioneering advanced medical procedures locally and for their humanitarian medical outreaches that have benefited vulnerable communities across Rivers State and beyond.
