Notable groups, Orashi National Congress, ONC, Southern Youths Foundation of Nigeria and Civil Society Campaign Council For Tinubu 2027, have strongly condemned the alleged coup attempt targeted to oust the President Tinubu’s administration.
In a statement signed by Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe, the groups said, “We join well meaning and patriotic Nigerians to strongly condemn the recent alleged attempted coup”.
“It is our strong belief that our democracy should be allowed to blossom. Anyone or group of persons desiring to take over from President Tinubu should wait till 2027 and do so democratically through the ballot. President Tinubu, since assumption of office, has been trying to reposition the country in all the sectors. It is therefore, uncalled for and out of place for anyone or group to attempt to topple a democratically elected Government.”
“We thank God that the attempt failed because it would have set the nation back by many years. We therefore, use this medium to demand that fingered perpetrators and collaborators should be brought to book no matter how highly placed or their location.”
“We also call on Mr. President to remove and replace indicted serving officials. We look forward to thorough investigations into the activities of all involved and having them to face justice.”

“While we commend President Tinubu for replacing the Service Chiefs, we urge the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence of Mr. President in their capacities. We also call for a complete overhaul of Nigeria’s internal security system, with special emphasis on restoring the central role of the Nigeria Police Force in domestic security management.”

“The Police must not continue to exist merely as a protest control unit while the Military performs internal security functions that should constitutionally belong to the Police. A weak Police Force translates into weak internal security. Mr. President should empower, reform, and reposition the Police as the lead agency in maintaining law and order,” the groups emphasised.
