The Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has announced plans for the 2026 National Children’s Day Celebration with a renewed call for inclusiveness and equal opportunities for every Nigerian child.

According to the statement released by the ministry, the event is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Square, Arcade, Igbatoro Road, Akure, beginning at 10 a.m.

The celebration, themed “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child,” is expected to bring together children, parents, government officials, development partners, teachers and other stakeholders to advocate for the rights, welfare and protection of children across the state.

Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and the First Lady, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, are expected to grace the occasion alongside top government functionaries and child-focused organisations.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Seun Bosede Osamaye, stressed the importance of creating an inclusive society where every child, including children living with disabilities and vulnerable children, can access quality education, healthcare, protection and opportunities for growth.

She noted that the celebration would not only entertain children but also serve as a platform to raise awareness on child development, inclusion, safety and the collective responsibility of society towards securing a better future for children.
