The One-Week-One-Book Movement, a group of spirited individuals with the target of encouraging the reading and writing of books, held a workshop on Saturday 10th August, 2019, in Lagos.
The ‘Let’s Talk About Book’ workshop was held at Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Alausa, Ikeja, with the theme: How to use books as tools for personal effectiveness and business progress.
The workshop, divided into segments, offered very educative and entertaining sessions. It featured book reading, poetry performance and business presentation.
One of the speakers, Mr. Solomon Okpa, during one of the sessions, took the participants through the different stages and steps necessary before embarking on writing of books and how to become successful authors.
Children, who were not left out of the workshop, made presentations and were equally guided on how to improve on their reading and writing skills.
Another speaker, Mr. Isaac Ajisafe, who came all the way from Ekiti State, took the participants through the needed steps towards turning their books into tools of financial emancipation.
One of the high points of the workshop was the business presentation by Daily Alertz powered by recharge-and-get-paid. There was also a public presentation of a book by one of the members of the group, Mr. Sesan Omotosho, titled ‘Life’.
The book was reviewed and equally launched at the event with participants and guests making cash donations to encourage the author, Sesan Omotosho.
Speaking, the author of the book, Sesan, thanked the members of the One-Week-One-Book group and the Convener, Pastor Moracks Akin-David, for the opportunity afforded him to publicly present his book at the event.
In his remarks, the Convener, Pastor Moracks Akin-David, shared his story and encouraged members to continue to strive to improve on the number of books they read as readers are leaders. He posited that government at different levels should do everything possible to encourage the citizens to read books as well as providing good libraries.
