Ooni Hosts Ado-Odo Monarch, Offers Ancestral Blessings Ahead Of 2nd Coronation Anniversary

The Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigerian Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), Arole Oodua Olofin Adimula and the Natural Head of the Oduduwa race worldwide, the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, has received the Olofin Adimula Oodua of Ado-Odo Kingdom in Ogun State, Oba Olusola Idris Adebowale Lamidi-Osolo, at the historic Ile Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife.

The visit, described as one of royal solidarity and cultural significance, saw the Ado-Odo monarch accompanied by members of his entourage and traditional chiefs, as he paid homage to the Ooni, regarded as the spiritual head of the Yoruba race.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Otunba Moses Olafare, the revered monarch was warmly received by the Ooni alongside his council of chiefs in a display of deep-rooted tradition and culture.

Speaking during the visit, Oba Lamidi-Osolo commended the Ooni for his consistent leadership role in promoting unity, peace, and the preservation of Yoruba cultural heritage. He described the Ooni as a unifying figure whose influence continues to strengthen bonds among traditional institutions.

The Ado-Odo monarch noted that his visit was also to formally invite the Ooni to his forthcoming 2nd Coronation Anniversary, scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Ado-Odo, Ogun State. According to him, the celebration will mark two years of purposeful leadership and will showcase the rich cultural heritage of the kingdom.

He further emphasized that the presence of the Ooni at the event as Royal Guest of Honour would add immense prestige and spiritual significance, given his revered status as Arole Oduduwa.

Responding, the Ooni who is also serves as Co-Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) commended Oba Lamidi-Osolo for his dedication to the promotion of Yoruba culture and traditions, urging him to remain steadfast in fostering peace, unity, and development within his domain.

The Ooni also acknowledged the progress recorded in Ado-Odo under the monarch’s reign, stressing that traditional rulers must continue to serve as custodians of culture and agents of development in their communities.

While assuring the visiting monarch of his goodwill and support, the Ooni promised to honour the invitation, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

He, however, offered ancestral prayers and royal blessings for the continued peace, prosperity, and progress of the Ado-Odo Kingdom, praying for a successful and memorable coronation anniversary celebration.
