Ooni Hosts Osun Immigration Comptroller, Pledges Support For Agency

The Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigerian Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), Arole Oodua Olofin Adimula and the Natural Head of the Oduduwa race worldwide, the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, on Monday received the newly deployed Osun State Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Morakinyo Akinyemi, during a courtesy visit to the historic Ile Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife.
In a statement on Monday by the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Otunba Moses Olafare, said Akinyemi, who recently assumed office as the State Comptroller, arrived at the palace alongside members of his management team to formally introduce himself and seek royal blessings from the foremost traditional ruler.
Speaking during the visit, Akinyemi expressed delight at the opportunity to meet with the Ooni, describing the monarch as a revered leader whose influence transcends cultural boundaries.
He noted that his visit was not only to pay homage but also to establish a cordial working relationship with the palace. “I am here to pay a visit and to receive royal blessings. I am always happy to see Your Majesty, and I am deeply honoured to be here today,” he said.
The Comptroller further emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Nigeria Immigration Service and traditional institutions, particularly in areas of intelligence gathering, border control awareness, and community engagement, noting that such partnerships are crucial to enhancing national security.
Responding, the Ooni who is also the Permanent Co-chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) appreciated the Comptroller and his team for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of respect for tradition and recognition of the role of traditional rulers in governance and societal development.
He reaffirmed his longstanding relationship with the Nigeria Immigration Service and commended the agency for its critical role in safeguarding the nation’s borders.
“I thank you for this honour. I have a very strong relationship with your agency, and I appreciate the work you are doing for our country. God will bless you,” the Ooni said.
Ooni Ogunwusi assured the Comptroller of his full support, stressing that the palace remains open to collaboration with security agencies for the peace, stability, and development of society.
