Operation Puff Adder Records Another Milestone In Anambra

Police operatives from the Operation Puff Adder on 1st July, 2019, at about 5:50am, in conjunction with Police patrol team attached to Fegge Division, arrested One Ifeanyi Njoke of Agbor, Delta State at Upper Iweka area of Onitsha.

The suspect, Ifeanyi Njoke, reportedly belonged to the notorious ‘one chance’ robbery syndicate terrorizing innocent citizens at Upper Iweka area and dispossessing them of their valuables.

According to SP Haruna Mohammed, PPRO, Anambra State Police Command, exhibits recovered from the suspect included one locally made double barrel pistol with two rounds of live ammunition.

He said that the case is still under investigation after which suspect and his accomplices at large would be charged to Court for prosecution.

Meanwhile, on 2nd July, 2019, at about 4:30am, following a tip off, Operation Puff Adder operatives in conjunction with the Command’s Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested the following suspected armed robbery syndicate: Izuchukwu Ikwuabo, 35, Chidi Ihekuna a.k.a Legit, 34, Nonso Nnadozie a.k.a Small, 34, Chibueze George a.k.a Dove, 28 and Paul Ngwueche a.k.a Native doctor, 26.

The Police Spokesman said that the suspects were arrested in their hideouts within Okija, Anambra State, Mgbidi, Imo State and Imuhu Enugu States respectively.

SP Mohammed said they have confessed to have participated in series of armed robbery and kidnapping incidents within Anambra State.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects included 12 rounds of 0.9mm ammunition and 3 ATM cards belonging to different victims of their robbery attacks. He said that the case is also under investigation after which suspects would be brought to Justice.

Consequently, Police operatives attached to the Command’s Operation Puff Adder in conjunction with Special Anti Cultism unit (SPACS), arrested at various locations within the state 37 suspected cultists in continuation of the raids on their hideouts and black spots.

8 suspected cultists were arrested on 24th June, 2019, at Ukpor axis and the next day at Mbosi, 6 were arrested. 0n 26th June, 2019, at Ihiala axis 4 suspected cultists were reportedly arrested while on 27th June, 2019, at Umunya, 5 suspects were also arrested. On 28th June, 2019, at Uli, 6 suspected cultists arrested. 4 suspected cultists were arrested on 29th June, 2019, at Obosi 4 and another 4 suspects were picked up on 30th June, 2019, at Ihiala axis.

According to SP Haruna Mohammed, from all the raids carried out, a total of 37 suspects were arrested out of which 18 were screened out, 8 suspects were charged to court. 4 suspects were placed under Police supervision for being under aged while 7 suspects are undergoing investigation.

He said exhibits recovered from the suspects, who confessed being members of different secret cult groups, included 6 machetes, 3 improvised bunkers, 3 axes, one berret of Vikings Confraternity and weed suspected to be cannabis sativa.
