Emeni Ibe, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to Prof. Mrs. Love Akaja Akonye, Director of the Centre for Continuing Education, University of Port Harcourt/Omoku, on Wednesday, 10th June, 2026.
Speaking on behalf of the Orashi National Congress, Amb. Ibe said the visit was to “familiarize ourselves with you as the Director” and to commend the institution for its work.
The Orashi Region comprises Abua/Odual, Ahoada East, Ahoada West, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas of Rivers State, he stated.
Amb. Ibe said, “Our people are filled with joy” regarding the Centre’s presence and the recent extension to Omoku. He noted that “within the short period of your center in the region, there is serious work within the office and the centre is wearing a new face lift,” according to the speech.
He used the occasion to appeal to the Rivers State Government, Chairmen of Local Councils in Orashi, companies, and individuals “to come to the aid of the Centre in Omoku as they lack some modern social facilities that are required.
The President General also appealed to the Federal Government “to prevail on authorities, agencies like NDDC to site building and upgrading of the centre, including staff quarters, etc as in the case in other area of Niger Delta. He added that their region has continued to serve the interest of the multinationals and the nation at large.
Amb. Ibe described the Orashi National Congress as “an independent socio-cultural umbrella organization of Orashi people” whose aims include “advocation for sustainable security and preaching of peace, national unity and justice,” and to “enlighten and mobilize Orashi people to always use dialogue in resolving conflicts and consulting with security agencies and institutions,” according to the speech.
The visit concluded with prayers and expressions of goodwill for the Centre, Rivers State Government, Orashi National Congress, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
