Orlu Security Imbroglio

NJOKU MACDONALD OBINNA

Just like every concerned citizen of Imo State, I am completely against the militaristic approach of tackling security challenges in a once peaceful and vibrant economic-driven Local Government area like Orlu; which is gradually being perceived by neighbouring towns and states  as a war nay danger zone for peaceful coexistence as well as for doing businesses.

The intermittent or periodic surveillance and deployment of firece looking armed military personnel and security agents in search of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) of the IPOB; whose zonal camping ground, according to reports, is at a location that shares common boundary between Orlu in Imo State and Ihiala in Anambra State, has always caused panic in these areas as the indigenes are  frightened and their lives also threatened during the operational  intelligence surveillance of the Nigerian Army with its gallery of arsenal.

Unfortunately, people play divisive politics of acrimony and bitterness with the fragile but temporary security imbroglio in Orlu, Imo State, especially, the idle paid media hirelings both in the PDP and APC whose principals and sponsors lost out in the 2019 general elections and post -elections’ power play in the political turf.

The viral video and misleading storylines from both the new and mainstream media  about the Nigeria Airspace Survilenace alongside trucks of mobile military counter- offensive patrol team in Orlu two days ago caused great panic in Orlu and Orsu LGAs of Imo State.

In one dirty online media platform, Abia Times News, which had a misleading copied pictorial evidence of a bombarded scene of the said incident with a caption : BREAKING NEWS:
ESN SHOOTS DOWN NAF HELICOPTER IN ORLU, IMO STATE.

However, further investigation of same copied picture from the internet revealed that; ” the incident happened on January 2021,  in faraway India, when its military launched an offensive at a targeted militia group in order to comb the operational base of the said armed bandits”.Unlike in Nigeria, where terrorists are pampared while bandits and herdsmen enjoy clandestine Government immunity through negotiation, pardon and reintegration.

However, the turn of events in the recent times, in my beloved Imo State, has proved the armchair  critics, members of the 5th Columnist,  the opposition and household enemies (APC|AA Agburu faction) as rather mischievous and sadistic group of sore losers, who are trapped in the political anxiety complex enunciated by rapid fear for having lost their stomach Infrastructure in the  power game.

As the tempo for another general elections is gradually rising, they have now resorted to using  gullible youths, who have been equipped with phones and money for monthly data subscription to resort to debilitating propaganda, destructive criticisms and classified blackmail.

Yes, as the Chief Security Officer saddled with the Constitutional power of protecting lives and property of Imo citizens, the Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, should also be swift in addressing the security situation after emergency meetings with the heads of the various security agencies in Imo State.

A security tip informed the Nigerian Army that the ESN was forming its operational force base in a forest located in Orlu, Imo State, thus, given rise for the Nigerian Airforce (NAF) to deploy its Airspace Survilenace fighter jet to properly comb and demolish the said camp. The fear such activities caused was because it was a spontaneous thing to ensure that intelligence information gathering was not compromised.

No lives were lost, nobody was harrased!
Just stay at home and observe from your closets!

While it is in the Exclusive List of the Federal Government to protect its territorial integrity against both foreign and domestic invasion by any militia group, it is however , advisable that the same Nigerian Army should extend these security survilenace operations to Niger State, Borno State , Kastina State,  Zamfara State and in the Middle Belt; where these terrorists are having field day in kidnapping for ransom, maiming, raping and taking over boundaries as the occupants desert their homes for safety.

Time to act is now!
At the home front, Imo State is safe and peaceful!
