FC Barcelona Star, Asisat Oshoala has been named as new captain of Nigeria’s Super Falcons. Oshoala replaced former skipper, Desire Oparanozie.
Chief Coach of the team, Christopher Danjuma made the announcement during a training session of the Falcons in Abuja on Monday ahead of the Olympic Games qualifying match against Cote d’Ivoire. The announcement was noticed on the twitter handle of Super Falcons and a video attached to the message which reads
“As announced by Acting Head coach Christopher Danjuma of the @NGSuper_Falcons this evening, forward @AsisatOshoala is the new captain of the team.”
Coach Danjuma said in the video while speaking to the players at the training at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja before unveiling the new captain that the team are battle ready for the Africa qualifying match against the Ivorien. He also charged the team to be focused on the task ahead.
He then said: The leadership of the Super Falcons is hereby changed. Asisat Oshoala will now be your new captain. On the assistant captain, this will be dealt with later. I know that you are all seasoned professional. I want us to be focused on the Olympic Games, Danjuma said.
