Organised Labour groups in Osun, on Wednesday, endorsed the candidature of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, for a second term in office as the Governor of Osun State.

The group described Oyetola as a father, one that the workers in Osun are highly fortunate to have steer the affairs of the State.

Speaking at the three-day retreat of the Osun State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), the National President, Comrade Olatunji Akeem Ambali, lauded Oyetola for transforming the labour situation in Osun.

According to Ambali, “Osun workers are not only happy but they have been transformed. You ended that disjointed and mutilated anti-workers remuneration scheme. We are happy because you abolished part payment of salaries in Osun State.

“The promises of God must come to pass, but we as workers must be a part of the movement. If we have a government that listens to us and has transformed our fortune, it is only fitting to reciprocate the kind gesture”, Ambali said.

In his remark, the State Chairman of NULGE, Comrade Kehinde Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, said Oyetola had brought a new lease of life to all workers in the State in general and at the Local Government level in particular.

“Your prompt payment of salaries and allowances has made it very possible for workers to be able to plan on their salaries for proper development.”

“Sir, it is when you came on board in Osun that the children of workers stopped sitting at home due to inability of their parents to pay their school fees, which was unconnected with non-payment of full salary.”

“The implementation of new minimum wage for our members, the monetization of one of our last earned promotion and the physical, socio-economic development of the state are some of the largesse that we have benefitted from your administration.”

“We shall never forget the pardon granted to some of our members that were caught in the web of certificate racketeering, schooling without approval, just to mention but a few.

“Your level of humility and milk of kindness has brought peace and stability to our Union in particular and the State in general. Osun State is no more in the news for bad reasons. We are happy to be associated with you”, Ogungbangbe said.

The Chairman of the Osun Chapter of the Trade Union Congress, Comrade Adebowale, lauded Governor Oyetola for giving the State a positive identity both within and without, adding that there is need to sustain what is working for the State.

The State Chairman of ALGON, Mr Samuel Idowu Abiodun, lauded Oyetola for restoring normalcy to the State through labour-friendly interventions.
