Barely two days after the launch of Osun’s youth policy document, Fountain University has set up an implementation committee to translate the State’s policy to action at the Institution’s level.

The Institution also commended the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the State of Osun for its youth-centered stance, adding that it was ready to continue to add value to the policies and actions of the State.

Speaking during a courtesy call of Fountain University’s Visitation Panel on Governor Oyetolain  his office on Friday, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Amidu Sani, said the implementation Committee, named “The 4E Committee”, is aimed at applying the items in the policy document in the University environment.

He disclosed that part of the strategic implementation plans is to have a collaboration and research group to research into the various aspects of the policy beyond rhetorics or expressions of interest.

In his remarks, Governor Oyetola lauded the University’s management for the prompt attention given the state’s youth policy, describing the university as a partner in progress.

“I commend the University management for the prompt attention given to the state’s youth policy which was launched barely two days ago.
“It shows how proactive you are, it shows the passion you have to partner with us and to make your own contributions to the development of the society, especially the youths.

“It is important for us to give attention to our youths. So, we decided to have a framework to engage the youths so that we are guided. We realised that most of our engagements with youths revolve around the four critical pillars contained in the policy document (Youth Education, Engagement, Empowerment and Entrepreneurship).

“Once we are able to design programmes around these specific pillars, it is going to be a holistic way of addressing the needs of the youths”, Oyetola stated.
Oyetola also expressed delight in the University’s efforts at identifying some of the problems confronting the society, particularly the youths, and the pragmatic efforts at addressing some of the identified issues.
He specifically lauded the University’s Academic Rehabilitation Empowerment Project (AREP) situated at Iragbiji (Boripe Local Government Area) with the aim of  rehabilitating young people who get involved in substance abuse, rather than throw them out of the system.
Contributing, the Chairman of the Visitation Panel, Professor Abdul-Wahab Egbewole, commended the Osun government for its support to the University, adding that the institution would continue to do its best through appropriate research that enhances the state’s efforts.
