The recent tour of key Federal and State Government projects in Abia by the Renewed Hope Presidential Media Team has once again reinforced the truth that Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, is redefining governance through performance. In today’s Abia, development is no longer a promise or a campaign slogan. It is a visible, measurable and undeniable reality.

Led by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, and the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, the presidential delegation embarked on an independent assessment of projects executed under both the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the transformational administration of Governor Alex Otti. Their verdict was unequivocal. They described the pace of development across Abia as remarkable and commended Governor Otti’s strategic investments in infrastructure, power, roads and other critical sectors that are transforming the state’s socio-economic landscape.

What made the assessment even more significant was the fact that the delegation inspected only a fraction of the numerous ongoing and completed projects across the state. Due to time constraints, the team visited projects mainly in Abia North and parts of Umuahia, leaving out Aba, the commercial hub of the state, as well as several landmark projects spread across Abia South and Abia Central Senatorial Districts. Yet, the few projects they inspected were enough to leave a lasting impression and convince the visitors that Abia has indeed entered a new era of purposeful, result-oriented and people-centred leadership.

From the reconstructed 67-kilometre Joe Irukwu Way and the Omenuko Bridge to the ongoing restoration of electricity in Ohafia after eight years of darkness, the Renewed Hope Housing Estate, the Nnenna Oti Multi-Bus Terminal and the Tower–Umuopara–Onuimo Dual Carriageway, every project visited conveyed the same unmistakable message that Governor Otti is building a new Abia through strategic planning, prudent management of public resources, fiscal discipline and an unwavering commitment to the welfare and prosperity of the people.

Beyond roads and bridges, the transformation is evident across virtually every sector. The Otti administration has sustained an unprecedented drive in infrastructure, power and energy, healthcare, education, transportation, environmental renewal, urban regeneration and institutional reforms. Three years into his administration, Abia has emerged as one of Nigeria’s best-governed states, with visible, verifiable and impactful projects that continue to redefine the state’s image, restore public confidence and attract investors and development partners.

Perhaps the greatest significance of the presidential media tour is that it provided Governor Otti’s achievements yet another opportunity to speak directly to the Presidency. The projects themselves became the most compelling testimony to the administration’s performance. They required no elaborate defence or political embellishment. Once again, Governor Otti’s performance spoke louder than words, and its message resonated clearly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the entire Presidency.

The significance of the visit extends far beyond official commendation. It serves as an independent validation of the remarkable transformation taking place in Abia. It confirms that the New Abia being built by Governor Otti is not a political slogan but a practical reality reflected in modern infrastructure, improved public services, restored public trust in government, enhanced security and a renewed sense of hope among the people.

Governor Otti has consistently demonstrated that good governance is anchored on vision, integrity, competence, accountability and measurable results. His administration remains steadfast in its resolve to build a prosperous, inclusive and globally competitive Abia where development reaches every community and every Abian is given a genuine opportunity to realise his or her full potential.

Little wonder Governor Alex Chioma Otti continues to enjoy overwhelming goodwill and growing public support across the state. Judging by the prevailing mood among the people, many Abians are already looking ahead with confidence and optimism, eager to renew his mandate at the 2027 general election. They believe that his administration has laid a solid foundation for sustainable development and that the best days of Abia are still ahead under his visionary, purposeful and transformational leadership.
