Our State, Our Responsibility, is an initiative of the Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications adopted on July 31, 2019, to mobilize those living and doing business in the State to join hands with the Government to change the negative narrative about Rivers State.

It is a most-friendly social template designed to make all residents of the Garden City as Rivers State is known, to understand that there is a Shared Prosperity to protect; that the prosperity of the State is the prosperity of those living in it.

Today, this initiative has promoted the giant strides of the Administration of His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and also showcased the proud heritage of a people known for their traditional hospitality.

There is no gainsaying that Rivers State, being the highly acclaimed and celebrated “Treasure Base of the Nation”, is truly Investors Haven with great potentials that encourage the prosperity of small, medium and large scale  businesses in it.

Grapik Group, an engineering and construction business conglomerate, owned by an Imo born industrialist, High Chief Johnbosco Ozigbu, succeeded in Rivers State, Callus Miller Communications Ltd, a known Telecommunications brand in Port Harcourt, is owned by an Igbo man from Anambra State. Cubana Group, a renowned brand in hospitality industry owned by Chief Obinna Iyiegbu – Obi Cubana, from Oba in Anambra State, etc.

When the Publisher of 4th Estate Reporters, Imo born Media Consultant and PR-Expert, Njoku MacDonald Obinna and his team went on media oversights of a number of the people-oriented and signature projects by His Excellency, Gov. Nyesom Ezenwo  Wike, CON,  in the State, we were highly and deeply impressed with the performance index, milestones and developmental giant strides recorded by a Governor, who has succeeded in making his State, The Capital Project of Nigeria.

You may also wish to know why the glory of God abundantly dwells in Rivers State; the  Treasure Base of the Nation. A State blessed with two functional seaports and an International Airport, the headquarters of the hydrocarbon industry , contributing the highest percentage to Nigeria’s GDP. Despite the ongoing revolution in Urban Renewal as encapsulated in the Governor’s New Rivers Vision, the negative elements tagged “the 5th Columnist or vocal minority”, whose stock-in-trade is to use the media to demarket the State, by painting gory images about a hostile environment and insecurity: which is far from the truth.

Our State, Our Responsibility, was a timely clarion call and remains so, to all those living and doing businesses in Rivers State; those who know its true beautiful nature to start changing the negative narrative by telling the Rivers story; a land of abundant opportunities in the oil and gas business, renewable energy, real estate, construction, engineering and hospitality.

However, the campaign is singularly focused on itching into the psyche of all those, who live and do business in Rivers State to know that the State is their responsibility and its interest should always come first. And as such, political, religious and ethnic barriers should be completely discarded to promote a common good. This clarion call is as timely as it is imperative.
